Galerie Bart neemt dit jaar deel aan Art Rotterdam met Alexandra Hunts (1990, UA). We presenteren de installatie 'carbon-14' die Alexandra maakte voor haar eindexamen aan de KHM Malmo Art Academy te Sweden (2018).

Met haar werk onderzoekt en bevraagt Alexandra onze kennis. Als vragen, antwoorden en wedervragen refereren de verschillende onderdelen van haar installatie ‘carbon-14’ aan elkaar. Ze zijn geordend in een tijdlijn, met de prehistorie, de industriële revolutie en het digitale tijdperk als ijkpunten.

This year Galerie Bart will be present on Art Rotterdam's New Art Section. We will show the new work by Alexandra Hunts, (1990, UA), 'carbon-14'.

With her work, Alexandra researches and questions our knowledge. As questions, answers and questions of reciprocity, the different parts of installation 'carbon-14' refer to each other. They are arranged in a timeline, with prehistoric times, the industrial revolution and the digital age as benchmarks.

De groepsexpositie 'Go Figure!' met werk van Aldwin van de Ven, Casper Verborg, Jerry Kowalsky en Maria Britze, is nog te bezichtigen tot en met zaterdag 9 februari.

Graag willen we de expositie die dag van 15 tot 17 uur afsluiten met een borrel. Aldwin, Casper en Maria zullen je om 15.30 uur meenemen door de expositie en vertellen over hun werk. Daarna is er ruimte om nog wat na te praten. Je bent van harte welkom om deze finissage bij te wonen!

The group exhibition 'Go Figure!', showing works by Aldwin van de Ven, Casper Verborg, Jerry Kowalsky and Maria Britze, can still be visited up until Saturday, February 9th.

On Saturday February 9th, we would like to end the exhibition with closing drinks between 3 and 5 pm. Aldwin, Casper and Maria will be present to meet and join for drinks. At half past 3, they will take us through the exhibition and tell us about their work. We welcome you to ask questions!

Gerard Koek & Toni van Tiel - A Cloud Collision Walkthrough

CJe zou ‘A Cloud Collision Walkthrough’ een beeldententoonstelling kunnen noemen. Toch is er maar één vrijstaande sculptuur te zien. Op een tafelachtige sokkel lijkt Gerard Koek's (1954, NL) beeld ‘The Beholder’s Eye’ met felgekleurde aftakkingen uit de vloer omhoog te komen. Of zakt het er juist in weg?

Toni van Tiel (1979, NL) is beeldhouwer op papier. In zijn tekeningen schept hij monumenten, fonteinen en rotondes: beelden in een denkbeeldige openbare ruimte. ‘Het zijn gereduceerde beeldhouwwerken. In tekeningen hoeft de bouwconstructie niet te kloppen.’ Toni voelt geen noodzaak om ze driedimensionaal uit te voeren. Op papier bestaan ze, de fantasie van de kijker doet de rest.

You could call 'A Cloud Collision Walkthrough' an exhibition of sculptures. And yet there is only one freestanding sculpture to be seen. Supported by a table-like plinth, Gerard Koek’s (1954, NL) sculpture ‘The Beholder’s Eye’ with its brightly-coloured branches seems to be rising up out of the floor. Or is it sinking into it?

Toni van Tiel (1979, NL) is a sculptor on paper. In his drawings, he creates monuments, fountains, and roundabouts: sculptures in imaginary public spaces. Toni feels no need to realize these sculptures in three dimensions. They exist on paper, and the viewer’s imagination does the rest.

'A Cloud Collision Walkthrough' opens on Saturday, February 16th, from 4 to 6 pm. You are most welcome to attend!
